Harakat al-Nujaba: Phone Numbers for Recruitmentby Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi • Mar 29, 2015 at 6:46 pm https://jihadintel.meforum.org/152/harakat-al-nujaba-phone-numbers-for-recruitment Analysis of recruitment by jihadi groups has tended to focus on the Sunni angle, such as the Islamic State with its sophisticated propaganda wing designed to attract not only fighters but also anyone with a skill set that could be seen as useful to the group's state-project inside Iraq and Syria (e.g. doctor, engineer). But Shi'a militias are also keen on recruitment through social media: aiming to attract fighters with provision of phone numbers for people interested in joining the ranks. Below is a recent example for Harakat al-Nujaba, an Iranian proxy in Iraq that has also funnelled fighters to Syria. Compare with phone numbers put out by another Iran-aligned militia- Liwa al-Sadiqeen- for various 'popular committees' in parts of Iraq for people to call if they are interested in being recruited. receive the latest by email: subscribe to the free jihad intel mailing list |
