Islamic State Mobilization Call for Syrian Provinces to Reinforce Iraq Frontsby Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi • May 3, 2015 at 12:27 pm https://jihadintel.meforum.org/158/islamic-state-mobilization-call-for-syrian In a non-officially released Islamic State [IS] document (i.e. not circulated through its official media outlets), IS called for recruits in the Syrian provinces to reinforce the fronts of Anbar and Salah ad-Din provinces (image below: translation here at Specimen 3E). The order, purportedly coming from Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (which should dispel recent rumours he has been incapacitated through wounds in airstrikes), comes in the wake of IS' loss of Tikrit city but intense clashes further north as IS seeks to take control of the Baiji oil refinery: the local Iraqi outlet al-Mada Press reported that IS was besieging remaining government forces- which includes some Shi'a militias like the Al-Abbas Fighting Division- and had control of some 90% of the refinery. Meanwhile, Anbar fighting remains at a fiercely contested stalemate as IS seeks to control the provincial capital of Ramadi and govt forces seek to retake al-Karma district to the east of Fallujah (a fight also involving Shi'a militias like Kata'ib al-Qiyam al-Husseini and Liwa al-Shabab al-Risali). receive the latest by email: subscribe to the free jihad intel mailing list |
