Kata'ib Ansar al-Wilaya (Supporters of the State Brigades) is an Iraqi Shi'a militia. Led by one Taher Jabran, the militia identifies ideologically with Iran and has been involved not only in fighting in Anbar province but also in Syria, proclaiming thanks to God in a Facebook post on 8 August 2015 for "the arrival of Kata'ib Ansar al-Wilaya to al-Sham to protect the shrine of our Sayyida and Mawla Zainab.,.We call from God for crushing victory over the disbelievers of the age: the Dawa'esh [Islamic State] and the likes of them from the filth of the Wahhabis."
