Kata'ib Thawrat al-Abbas ("Al-Abbas Revolution Battalions") is a Shi'a militia led by one Ala' Abu Saiba' with Sheikh Sabah al-Ruba'ie as his deputy. Claiming a number of formations such as Liwa Muslim ibn Oqail and Liwa Dhu al-Fiqar for special operations, the militia defines itself as part of the "Islamic Resistance" and most notably claims to operate in Diyala and Salah ad-Din provinces. The militia openly identifies ideologically with Iran and its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
