Not yet designated terrorist by a Western country Base of operations: Iraq
Liwa Assad Allah al-Ghalib (Iraq) ('Conquering Lion of God Brigade'- in reference to Imam Ali) is a Shi'a militia part of the wider 'Popular Mobilization' (al-hashad al-sha'abi) since June 2014. It does not appear to be the same group as the Liwa Assad Allah al-Ghalib Iraqi Shi'a militia operating in the Damascus area, but may well take its name inspiration from it (cf. Liwa Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas and Aws al-Khafaji's Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas Forces). Liwa Assad Allah al-Ghalib (Iraq) is led by one Suhail al-Araji with Ali al-Araji as deputy head. The group primarily operates to the south and west of Baghdad.
