Saraya al-Jihad ('Jihad Brigades') is a Shi'a militia in Iraq affiliated with the political bloc Harakat al-Jihad wa al-Bina'. In June 2014, as part of the 'popular mobilization' (al-hashad al-sha'abi), Ammar al-Hakim of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq called on Harakat al-Jihad wa al-Bina' to train recruits. The result of that was Saraya al-Jihad which emerged in that same month.
