Liwa al-Shahada (The Martyrdom Brigade) is a Shi'a militia operating in Iraq, based in al-Zubayr in Basra province. It is affiliated with the office of the religious marja'iyya (Shi'a religious authority) in al-Zubayr and claims several divisions. On account of the marja'iyya affiliation, the militia emphasizes loyalty to Ayatollah Sistani in its banners. It should also be noted the militia has claimed joint martyrs with Iranian proxy Kata'ib Hezbollah and Liwa Ali al-Akbar.
