Al-Muhajiroun in East Africa is a group that first announced itself in January 2015, declaring allegiance to al-Qa'ida and al-Shabaab. Its language orientation is mostly in Swahili (not Somali), indicating the focus of the group, but its Twitter feed has also affirmed openness to recruits from Western countries, including Australia, Canada and France. The goal is to expand jihad throughout east Africa.
