Quwat al-Shaheed al-Sadr [al-Awal] ('[First] Martyr Sadr Forces')- in reference to Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr- is a name used by a variety of Shi'a militia formations inside Iraq. They should not be immediately confused with the Martyr Sadr Forces of the Da'wah Party- Tanẓim al-Iraq. Rather, these formations are officially headed by one Karim Abd al-Khidr al-Nasiri alongside former Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of the original Da'wah Party. Claimed to be part of the "Hashd Shaabi Committee" that includes a variety of Shi'a militias, these Martyr Sadr Forces formations reportedly have 6500 fighters registered in the committee, more than 7000 not registered, and 3000 embedded in other formations. Areas of operation for the Martyr Sadr Forces Formations include Diyala, Tikrit, Samarra, Jurf al-Sakhr, Baghdad Belt, and Anbar.
