Not yet designated terrorist by a Western country Base of operations: Iraq Facebook page
Liwa Ali al-Akbar is a Shi'a militia affiliated with the Imam Hussein shrine in Karbala. As of July 2015, it has been most notably operating in the Baiji area to the north of Tikrit as government forces attempt to clear the Islamic State out of the area. The group's social media output suggests loyalty to Ayatollah Sistani as spiritual leader.
