Kata'ib al-Imam al-Hussein
Not yet designated terrorist by a Western country Base of operations: Iraq
Kata'ib al-Imam al-Hussein is an Iraqi Shi'a militia that emerged in 2014. The most notable area of operation seems to be Salah ad-Din province. It is the military wing of Harakat al-Risala al-Islamiya ('The Islamic Message Movement'), a group ideologically aligned with Iran, as illustrated by its including among its 'leaders' (i.e. ideological figures of reverence) Ayatollah Khomeini and Iran's current Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. This is further reinforced by Kata'ib al-Imam al-Hussein's featuring of Khamenei in its social media graphics.
