Kata'ib Ahrar al-Iraq is a Shi'a militia that first announced itself in October 2014. It is led by one "Sheikh Abbas al-Maliki" and identifies ideologically with Iran and its system of governance, regularly featuring graphics on its Facebook page in support of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. The group appears to identify closely with Kata'ib Ruh Allah, another militia ideologically aligned with Iran.
