Shi'a Jihadi Slogan: Ya Hussein

"Ya Hussein" ("Oh Hussein!") is a salutation to Imam Hussein frequently invoked by Shi'a jihadis. Besides being a spoken slogan, it also features on banners raised by Shi'a militiamen fighting in Syria and Iraq. However, it should also be noted it has frequently been seen being raised on tanks and military equipment among the regular Iraqi army, raising concerns about sectarianism among rank-and-file soldiers that is not restrained by the office of the Prime Minister, who is the commander-in-chief of Iraq's armed forces.
