Saraya Ansar al-Aqeeda 'Martyrdom' Graphic
Dedicated to one Ali Muhammad Hashim al-Talibawi, who is described as 'defender of the creed' (al-aqeeda) and 'loyal to the religious marja'iyya' [Shi'a religious establishment]. In this case, Saraya Ansar al-Aqeeda ties itself to Ayatollah Sistani (featured on top right), whose fatwa in June 2014 on the necessity of self-defence was widely taken as legitimizing the 'popular mobilization' of Shi'a militias, and to the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) with the featuring of Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim, who headed ISCI's prior incarnation of Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq and was assassinated in 2003.
