Islamic State: Gazan contingent
The Gazan contingent of the Islamic State consists of a battalion named after a Gazan Salafi sheikh (Sheikh Abu al-Nur al-Maqdisi) who clashed with Hamas and was killed in 2009. The existence of this group reflects the pro-Islamic State trends that have emerged among jihadis in the Gaza and Sinai areas.
